Directions

Follow the instructions and you cannot go wrong.

From Sydney
Follow the instructions and you cannot go wrong. Firstly pick your route to get to Wiseman’s Ferry via Dural. From the city or North Shore, consider Epping Road and then on to the M2 or Victoria road to Carlingford and on to Pennant Hills Road . Once you are traveling north on

Pennant Hills Road proceed to Castle Hill Road (left turn from Pennant Hills Road) and then a right into New Line Road and carry on to Old Northern Road and Dural (not Round Corner). It is then a direct run of 38 km to Wiseman’s Ferry. Look for the St Albans sign as you exit the last hairpin bend coming in to Wisemans. Cross the Hawkesbury River on the “Webb Creek” car ferry, drive off and head up St Albans Road and exactly 21 km later you will arrive at the St Albans village by crossing the ancient timber bridge. You can also use the main ferry at Wisemans – however the Settlers road to ST Albans whilst a bit more direct is largely dirt – (If traveling by heavy transport you may need to use the larger Wisemans Ferry as the bridge at St Albans has a 15 ton load limit) You enter the village by turning right over the Macdonald River bridge. To get to The Glen, drive past the front of the Settlers Arms Inn and drive 2.2 km north on Wollombi Road and the Farm will be obvious straight ahead. If you see the lake and monastery (with St Francis in the fields) you have gone a little too far – The vineyard is on the side of the road adjacent to the gate to the Glen and First Farm There is a green & white sign on the corner with our name on it – We are number 250D .

The scenery is positively captivating as you pass through one of Australia’s oldest farming valleys. Elapsed driving time from the centre of Sydney is usually 1.5 hours on a Saturday
THE FERRY RUNS 24 HOURS A DAY
EVERY DAY.

From Newcastle or North Head for Cessnock and take the road to Wollombi or from Singleton go to Broke and then to Wollombi. At Wollombi proceed south for some 25 kms to the Wisemans Ferry turnoff which is at the top of a steep climb and is just after the sign for Koolang Observatory. Turn right down this road and travel for 35 kms to the village of St Albans. This
is the original settlers road to Singleton and is fairly twisty so please drive slowly and stay left. You will see The Glen some 2 kms before you would arrive at the village. As you pass the monastery and lake on your left be ready to turn left where the road makes a hard right corner.
